~My Vision~

As a Dance Education major from BYU, I have a vision of fulfilling a need in the dance world.  I feel there is a major element lacking in the dance industry for those who want to get great technique and have fun learning dance, without feeling they "live" at a studio!  I can't tell you how many moms and friends I've heard lament that their child wants to take dance but say "it's just too big of a commitment!" I have 5 kids, 4 of which are girls, and I looked for a studio that could offer them technique classes, without having to commit to a company or competitive team to get the best instruction.  My girls did soccer, piano, some volleyball, and dance, and I hated that at such an early age, they had to choose what they wanted to be in long-term. Gone were the days where you could do and try "everything".  I found a few studios where they got good technique, all the while realizing their is a need to be filled in the dance world.  I wanted to be a mom, therefore I put that as my priority.

Finally in October, 2015, I opened The Dancers' Place in my Draper home! I have had great support of neighbors, family, and friends who want a close, convenient, and affordable place where their kids can gain quality dance instruction and STILL do the other things they love without feeling over scheduled!  I am passionate about honing in on kids' natural creativity, all the while teaching them great dance technique.  I want them to leave happier than they came, to believe in themselves, and to feel a sense of accomplishment. I want to teach my students to have a good self image- talking to them about how to be healthy, and not focus on size and outward appearance.  It has been so fulfilling to create a place where dancers can come and excel or just try dance in a less intimidating environment.  There is much more one-on-one with smaller class sizes and  I also only have the best teachers, who all have degrees, or have incredible dance experience!  I invite you to join with us and be on our team!

Bio--I grew up doing strickly ballet and performing in Mountain West Ballet's Nutcracker, Copelia, and other shows.  I then found a love of contemporary, jazz, and modern dance at Hillcrest H.S. and participated in Dance Company, Drill Team, and the National Championship Songleading cheer squad.  I got my associates at Ricks College, (now BYU-I), and toured with the Contemporary Dance Theater there to Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.  I then went to BYU and received dance scholarships/awards and was a member of the CDT touring team (previously Dancers' Company), touring to Australia, Washington, California, Arizona, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and other states. After graduating with a Bachelors in Fine Arts in Dance Education, and a minor in Business Management, I student taught at Jordan H.S. co-managing the Dance Company there and eventually I took a job at Union Middle School teaching dance, and business classes. I also helped develop the extra-curricular program of creative dance and music at Corner Canyon Academy.  Then I focused on being mom, while participating in The Diamond Dance Company adult inspirational group, since 2004.  I LOVE being a mom of 5 amazing kids and now find joy teaching these awesome students a love of dance and positive self concept!
